I teach literature and critical writing at the University of Pittsburgh. I've also worked various administrative jobs at Pitt, along with receiving a BA and PhD there. My faculty page has more information on that circuitous journey and a link to my CV.

I also write book criticism. My reviews and essays have appeared in the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, Boston Globe, Brooklyn Rail, and other places. I write most frequently about contemporary literary fiction but try to cover a variety of genres from small and large presses.

When I'm not writing or teaching, I spend time with family and friends in Pittsburgh. It's fun! You should let me know if you're visiting.
